Born beneath the distant boughs of the Golmorran village of Ayit, Vidys had once been a member of its Woodwarders - serving as protector both to his people and the forest alike as was his preordained duty.Once.In a single, calamitous night, that simple life would be snatched from his palms as he was felled alongside his fellow brothers of the Wood under the deathly veil of Black Rose. He watched as they suffocated and perished in agony one by one and shared their pain. He watched as they were crushed beneath the Garleans' steel heels, who fled with his people's most sacred treasures, and shared in their despair. He watched as a single one of those treasures fell by his side... and shared its wrath.Now,Pulled from the jaws of death and stitched together by a malevolent power, Vidys shares but a single purpose in his newfound partnership as he and it stride out into an unfamiliar world:Salvation.

His Hope, His Duty

Amongst the relics that had been robbed from Ayit during the fateful night of the Garlean attack, Vidys obsesses over one in particular. In exchange for its acquisition, the malevolent power has promised to restore the former Woodwarder's vitality so that he might grasp back hold of his life and return to his beloved and their daughter. Whether all is truly so simple Vidys may only guess... However it does not change the fact it is his only choice and no less so duty to see the relic returned to Ayit.
To that end, the Rava doggedly pursues every rumour or sliver of information he might gain toward any strange items or extraordinary tools wherever he goes - ever hopeful the next lead may bring him a step closer to his personal salvation or to retrieving another part of his home's stolen legacy.

Blood, Still Fresh

Though it has been countless moons since, the memory of his fallen brethern being gruesomly butchered before they ever got to make their stand still haunts Vidys. Deeply so. Not a single night passes that his mind does not revisit that ruinous day, and with its recollection so too the painful clarity that accompanies his thirst for retribution against the man responsible for it all.
Amidst his quest for the relics does the Woodwarder too keep apace with his hunt for a particular Garlean - often in search for clues or individuals that may help him track them down with grim determination. It is only whence his head rolls that his fallen brothers will find their rest. Only then will he be able to put that day to rest.

A Damaged Vessel

Whether it was through mere fortunate circumstance or something greater that he had the means to survive his encounter with Black Rose, Vidys' body has not recovered from the ordeal. That he yet moves and retains the strength to fight is in no small part thanks to the malevolent presence, whose ancient malice courses through him like fuel. Whilst neither the like of healing magicks nor medicine have done much in the way to repair that extensive damage wrought, they have at least given the Woodwarder a means to dull his pains and allow himself to function without allowing another to take control.
Wherever he goes, he is an avid customer to healers and apothecaries alike - willing either to bargain with them for goods or an exchange of services.

Lethal Protector

Given his own circumstance, Vidys is not unfamiliar with what it is like to have your future permanently altered by the hand of man - and thus does he make an effort to protect others from a similar course along his journey. He is ever resolved to meet those who wish to bring harm and unnecessary woes with his steel and unnatural thirst for bloodshed... even if it may result in the survivors seeing him as a beast once the deed has been done. Perhaps then, should he one day fail in his quest and succumb to the thralls of malevolence, some good would have been wrought of his curse.
Oftentimes these escapades of vigilantism and brutal justice dispensed by the former Woodwarder have left behind numerous gruesome scenes which bore fruit many-a-rumour as to their perpetrator's identity... although numerous such stories are beginning to overlap and point towards a male viera.

Some Notable Quirks

  • Owing to his training, Vidys has developed into an exceptional huntsman and survivalist - able to efficiently track prey in most environments with just as much efficiency as he is able to discern flora. He has come to rely greatly upon these skills as a supportive means of earning gil in a still unfamiliar world, often happy to sell them as a service for those in need of particular materials.

  • The concept of gil is yet an odd thing for the Rava. When this fact is paired with his mostly trusting nature of traders, it becomes all too easy to understand why his pouch is nearly always remarkably light. Still, he has come to learn that adventuring can be a profitable venture and thus is often willing to lend a hand if the task at hand doesn't require an overt amount of bloodshed.

  • In his youth, Vidys had craved to see for himself the boundless wonders the world past Golmore's edge held. Even in his situation, some glimmer of that childish dream is yet withheld, hale and whole. Oftentimes he enjoys resting at scenic vistas off the beaten path; absorbing nature's resplendence to meditate.

Firstly I'd like to thank you for taking the time to browse through Vidys' carrd. I hope it was a worthwhile read that managed to give you some insight into him and spark an interest for more!Now as for who I am...I'm a fairly laid back EU roleplayer who enjoys meeting new faces and building friendships outside of character. I mostly play on Balmung, but am always happy to world visit here and there. Though my timezones is GMT +2, you can also find me online during active NA hours on most days (mainly EST times). Outside of that, I'm pretty open to working out specific times whenever.I typically enjoy exploring darker and more mature character themes, especially for Vidys. I'm predominantly looking for long-term RP and connections between him and other characters, however short or one-off stories aren't off my table if that's what you're looking for. A healthy mix of both more adventure/plot based RP and everyday social events is what I usually strive for. Gotta have some noise to be able to appreciate the quieter moments after all!I've also got a discord outside the game.   • IC and OOC are unquestioningly separate entities. Please don't bring one into the other.

  • Communication between RP partners is key. My door is always open for discussion be it when it comes to planning or some form of conflict resolution.

  • I prefer my RP partners to be at least 18+ due to some of the themes that could be explored during roleplay.
